Michael L. Avaricio, MD

President

Dr. Avaricio is a board-certified cardiologist and the co-founder of Innovative Health ACO, where he provides strategic leadership to advance patient care, outcomes, and physician collaboration through value-based care. With decades of clinical experience and a proven track record of managing multiple practices, he empowers physicians to coordinate care, focus on prevention, and align incentives around patient outcomes rather than volume.

As a practicing cardiologist and founder of Advanced Cardiac Care PLLC in Queens, New York, Dr. Avaricio brings a hands-on clinician’s perspective to ACO leadership. He prioritizes coordinated, patient-centered care and fosters strong partnerships between specialists and primary care providers. His leadership in value-based models is driven by a commitment to reducing fragmentation, enhancing accountability, and building sustainable, high-quality care across the communities served by Innovative Health ACO.

Philmer is a healthcare executive with more than two decades of experience supporting physician-led, value-based care organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from the University of Florida and an MBA from the University of Miami. Philmer brings deep expertise in healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and performance management across MSSP ACOs, ACO REACH, commercial shared-savings, and Medicare Advantage models. He is known for his collaborative, physician-centric leadership style, focused on building sustainable care models that align operational discipline with improved patient outcomes.

Director of Provider and Clinical Services

Romanus is a healthcare executive and registered nurse with more than 20 years of experience leading clinical, operational, and analytics initiatives across hospitals, ACOs, IPA networks, and digital health companies. He specializes in translating predictive analytics and artificial intelligence into decision systems that improve patient outcomes, strengthen financial performance, and reduce operational friction. Romanus has deployed predictive risk models, DRG and CDI optimization frameworks, and AI-generated clinical summaries across major service lines, with a focus on making decision logic explicit, auditable, and operationally owned. A national speaker at Becker’s, CMSA, and ACMA, he is also a PhD candidate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology with a concentration in behavioral economics, studying ethical decision-making under uncertainty and algorithmic influence. His work centers on building clinically credible, economically durable decision-support systems that executives and boards can trust at scale.
